The Royal Barge Project
The space: Luxury river cruiser
Artificial grass: Exhibition Pro – Wine
Special notes: We were selected to create a sumptuous red backdrop for the river cruiser that was to become the Royal Barge, the Queen’s vessel during the Diamond Jubilee River Pageant.
The project started in April removing 300m² of the existing surface on the top deck, before commencing battle with the wettest April on record to lay the new, specially sourced red artificial grass.
The Blades team felt privileged working on this prestigious project with such an inspirational design team, lead by Joseph Bennett and Rachel de Thame.
Joseph Bennett sent us the following after the Pageant:
“Blades have laid some beautiful red grass, which has helped transform the Spirit of Chartwell into the Royal Barge for the Thames Diamond Jubilee River Pageant. Your care and professionalism has been very impressive, and we are delighted to have worked with you on this very special project.”
